There are no specific geographic limitations, but the location needs adequate internet access. We are glad to take students on-board around the world.
Live lessons: To participate in live lessons, all you need is the following:
- A computer running Windows or Mac operating system with Google Chrome installed (the platform's tools are optimized to use the features of Chrome). (Download Google Chrome). If you can't download Google Chrome, don't worry, you can still access the course but just not use all of the classroom features.
- Broadband internet access, the faster the better.
- A headset - this will give much better audio quality.
- A webcam is optional but not necessary.
- Laptop
- Desktop
- Tablet
- Smartphone
Students can use a laptop, desktop, smartphone, or tablet for distance learning. A laptop or desktop would be an ideal choice for its screen size and quality.
Online lessons are more flexible than in-person lessons and there is no time wasted due to travelling. It also means students can continue lessons when away on holiday. Students currently on-board or have been facilitated through our platform belong to various locations including UK, Qatar, UAE, Saudi Arab, India, Srilanka, Pakistan and others.
Online lessons are just as effective as in-person lessons; in fact a large proportion of students who have had both in-person and online tuition say they prefer the online lessons as they find it easier to concentrate and that it's a more efficient use of time.
We have students belonging from more than 10 countries who all have lessons online.
Students have tuition for a variety of reasons:
- To supplement their school work
- To improve their grade in a re-sit exam
- When studying outside of conventional education e.g. distance learning or home education
- Mature students wanting a change of career
This very much depends on the student and the course. Currently there are students who have up to 6 hours tuition per week, and others who just have the occasional lesson. Most students have regular lessons at the same time(s) each week to ensure availability. On average, the majority of students have between 2-3 hours per week per subject, and some increase this as exams approach.
Online tuition works almost exactly the same as an ordinary tuition lesson; the only difference is we talk on Zoom / Google meet instead. All lesson notes, questions and mark schemes are the same whether the lesson is online or not, and the lesson format is no different.
Students are able to write exam answers in the Google meet chat window so we can read the answer together before going through the mark-scheme. Google meet allows hands-free communication, so students can type or read while talking, and the webcam enables improved communication.
